Meet this incredible team, Jessica & Libby!

The Shelter to Soldier team adopted Libby from our friends at Labs & More under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of Karen & Jeff Shabel. She is fun-loving, eager to learn, and an affectionate “pocket” labrador mix (as we like to call her in her small stature).

Jessica is a US Army and US Navy veteran and is moving forward in obtaining her degree in Psychology. A friend of Jessica’s had suggested it would be helpful for her to have a service dog, along with the recommendation from her mental health care team, and with a quick internet search, Jessica found Shelter to Soldier.

Jessica immediately fell in love with Libby’s sweet eyes and loving demeanor. They loved playing catch (with treats of course) and cuddling at the end of their training sessions. They progressed through the program beautifully with the assistance of their trainer, Kayla.

Jessica and Libby celebrated their journey together on September 20th, 2023.
