The Shelter to Soldier team adopted Poocha Nacua as an owner surrender under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of LA Rams, their 2nd dog for our program!
Brandon proudly served in the U.S. Army for 7 years and 10 months, with a distinguished career as an Air Assault Field Artilleryman in the 101st Airborne Division. His service included two deployments to Iraq (2007 and 2009) and a tenure in military corrections. During his time in the service, Brandon unfortunately developed PTS. Having a dog with him showed significant improvement in his day-to-day activities which led him to find Shelter to Soldier and Cooper Pupp.
Cooper, named after former LA Rams wide receiver, Cooper Kupp, has played a pivotal role in Brandon’s life, even serving as his best man. The two formed an unbreakable bond after being matched with him. Cooper graduated alongside Brandon in August 2020, solidifying their special connection. Unfortunately, in May 2022, Brandon shared that his beloved service dog, Cooper, had been diagnosed with cancer.
Today, Brandon lives with his wife and two dogs, Cooper & Nacua in Colorado. Poocha Nacua, is affectionately named after LA Rams wide receiver, Makea “Puka” Nacua. Poocha’s joyful, goofy personality has added even more happiness to their home, where he often spends time cuddling with both Brandon and Cooper.
