The Shelter to Soldier team adopted Gunner from Wags & Walks under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of Zander & Maddy Fryer. Ronel was lucky enough to have found our program through our community outreach representative, Tommy Moore.

Ronel, a US Navy Veteran, graciously served our country for 20 years and had been deployed to Iraq twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring freedom. During his time in the service, Ronel developed PTSD which resulted in self-isolation. The goal of having a service dog for him was to get his life back on track for not only himself, but for his wife and three loving children. Since his retirement, he has received an Associates Degree and is now working towards his Bachelor’s Degree in Business management.

Ronel & Gunner are set to graduate the program soon in the Spring.
