Shelter to Soldier™ adopted Jade from Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas in November 2014. She is a 2 year old golden retriever/shepherd mix with a very kind soul. She is mature beyond her age but still playful and spirited. Jade craves affection from her human friends and handlers, an amazing quality for a service dog.

Jade did incredibly well during her training program and was matched after 10 months in our program with a US Army Veteran, Chris Meyer-Ontiveros. It was really special because Chris had been tentatively matched with another one of our dogs in training but after months of handling training, they weren’t connecting at the level that was needed and desired. When we introduced Jade to Chris, you could see the chemistry and they really picked each other. Chris stayed dedicated to the program and went through months of handler training and service dog education with Jade before graduating on January 21, 2016! It was a beautiful day at Poway Veterans Park for this special team! We are so proud of the incredible journey they have created together and we look forward to watching it continue!

A special thanks to Integriv, an amazing company out of Carlsbad CA, that is paving the way for corporate giving. Not only did they sponsor the adoption, training, care and placement of Jade in 2014/2015, they just sponsored a second dog! Our mission at Shelter to Soldier™ would not be even remotely possible without the support of corporations and individuals who give back in the wonderful ways they have. THANK YOU! And CONGRATULATIONS to Jade and Chris!
