The Shelter to Soldier team adopted Posh from Labs & More under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of Unite! Our team was introduced to Posh through Diana, the founder of Labs & More, and was told Posh had been living with a foster. Posh had a spunky attitude and was very food driven making her a great candidate for our service dog program.
Arthur is a USMC veteran who served in Mortuary Affairs. During his overseas deployment, his post-traumatic stress (PTS) worsened. Arthur’s interest in service dogs grew when he saw the profound impact a service dog had on his battle buddy. He recalls, “I can see that the dog has been helpful to him in his day to day life. He is more happy and smiles more. His family sees the change as well and credits the dog in the shift.”
When Arthur met Posh, she immediately snuggled up next to him, providing a sense of grounding. Arthur quickly realized that her spunky personality and manageable size were exactly what he needed. Their bond was undeniable, and they sailed through the training program with ease, thanks to Arthur’s exceptional handling skills and Posh’s eagerness to work alongside him.
On December 17th, 2024, the pair celebrated their journey together at our Wings of Freedom Campus, surrounded by the STS family. As they prepare to begin their next chapter in Georgia, we are excited to see all that this incredible team will accomplish together in the future!
