Giving Tuesday, December 1st, is an international day of giving. A day intended to bring humanity together to promote social good and give back to the causes that touch great need all over the world. Shelter to Soldier is celebrating Giving Tuesday by bringing our supporters together in a virtual space to raise our first official flag at the Shelter to Soldier training facility. Our training facility houses the shelter dogs we adopt during their 9-18 month journey through our program to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 combat veterans in need. It is a safe space for our veteran students as they bond and work with their service dogs toward graduation. We’ve had a longtime goal to install a flagpole and proudly wave the flag of the United States of America on site, and thanks to fundraisers Perry Chapman, Shelter to Soldier Dog Trainer, and Eagle Scout, Mason – the flagpole project is in motion! On December 1st at 12:00 pm we will realize that goal with a powerful flag ceremony to honor the veterans lost to Post Traumatic Stress and suicide, as well as those continuing to battle with their mental health after bravely serving our country. The event will be a celebration of our fervent dedication to veterans who desperately need the support of our program and our commitment to being a safe place of growth and recovery for them. Join us, and together we will continue “Saving Lives, Two at a Time.™”
