About Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that inspires people everywhere to do good. Created in 2012 as a simple idea – a day encouraging people to give back – it has grown into a worldwide celebration of kindness, collaboration, and community. Each year, millions of donors unite to support causes they care deeply about and make a meaningful difference in the world.
This Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Shelter to Soldier invites you to join us in Saving Lives, Two at a Time. Your generosity directly supports our lifesaving programs serving veterans, active-duty military, Gold Star families, and first responders – all while giving shelter dogs a second chance at life.
You can participate in two ways:

OR

Every act of generosity – big or small – helps transform the lives of shelter dogs and the heroes who need them most.
Through our Psychiatric Service Dog Program, we adopt dogs from local shelters and train them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma. Each veteran works closely with our professional training team through a detailed matching and training process to ensure long-term success and partnership.
Our Morale Dog Program places specially trained facility dogs aboard U.S. Navy vessels and at military installations to provide emotional support, boost morale, and enhance mental wellness for active-duty service members. These dogs—formally recognized as Expeditionary Facility Dogs (EFDs)—serve as part of the Navy’s Expanded Operational Stress Control (ESOC) program, helping to reduce stigma, promote early intervention, and strengthen resilience across the Fleet.
Our Emotional Support Animal Program provides training and support to veterans of all eras, active-duty personnel, Gold Star families, and first responders. Participants receive individualized instruction to build strong, lasting bonds with their emotional support animals, promoting connection, stability, and healing through the human-canine relationship.
Our Canine Ambassador Program deploys certified therapy dog teams throughout the community to bring comfort, joy, and companionship to active-duty military, veterans, and their families. These volunteer teams represent Shelter to Soldier at events, outreach visits, and partner engagements, sharing our mission and spreading smiles wherever they go.
