Hi, I’m Maggie! I’m a 2-year-old labrador retriever adopted from Labs & More under the generous Red Star sponsorship of Griffin Funding!

For about a year, I had a family of my own. Then life took an unexpected turn, and I found myself back at Labs and More. Sometimes things are not the right fit, and that is okay. What matters is where the journey leads next, and for me, it led somewhere pretty special.

I’m a confident girl with a curious streak. New places do not intimidate me. They excite me! Whether it is a new room, a new trail, or a new training environment, I am usually the first one ready to check it out. I like knowing what is going on and being part of the action.

I’m also highly motivated by snacks. Some might call that food-driven. I prefer “enthusiastic about opportunities.”

When I’m out on walks, I’m calm and steady. I do not need to be the center of attention. In fact, I am happiest staying close to my people. If you stop for a conversation, you will often find me sitting quietly by your side, leaning against your legs, taking everything in. I am not asking for anything. I am simply happy to be there with you.

Now I am training to become a service dog for a veteran. I do not know who my person is yet, but I am getting ready for them every day. My trainers say I have all the qualities they are looking for: confidence, focus, consistency, and a desire to stay connected with my handler. That sounds pretty good to me!

Of course, belly rubs are nice. Treats are even better! And if I happen to bring a few extra tail wags along the way, that is just part of the package.
