Julio is an approximately 3 year old rottweiler pitbull mix who we adopted from San Diego County Department of Animal Services Shelter on Gaines St. in San Diego. Julio was eager to please and loved working for treats and affection, but his behavior was struggling in the kennel environment, and he needed a new home. Shortly after adopting Julio, we noticed him feeling ill and weak. We immediately took him to our vet, where Julio was diagnosed with Parvovirus. Luckily, we caught it early and the staff at VCA Animal Specialty Group in Kearny Mesa treated Julio quickly, saving his life. Now fully recovered, Julio loves training! This big lovable guy is extremely food motivated and loves exploring new places in his public access training. Julio’s care, training and boarding have been generously sponsored by Red Star Sponso, The David C. Copley Foundation.

Julio is currently working with his veteran handler, Matt!

The Foundation’s mission is to carry on the Copley family’s legacy of giving by funding nonprofit organizations making a difference in the areas of human services, military and military veterans, youth development, medical and medical research, education, arts and culture and animal welfare, especially those programs and services improving the life or opportunities of the underserved in the San Diego area.
