In July of 2017, we were contacted by our close friend and rescue partner Cece Bloum, from Thrive Animal Rescue. Cece reached out to our training company, Specialty Dog Training, to get some basic obedience training for a new rescue for them, Duke. However, once we evaluated him, we determined that Duke would be a perfect fit for Shelter to Soldier™ and adopted him! Duke is a 1 year old cattle dog mix, and was a homeless stray before ending up at the Humane Society of Imperial County, where he was rescued by Thrive. He is a very social pup who loves to play with people and dogs alike. This energetic pup LOVES to train and will make a great service dog for a veteran in the future! Special thanks to Duke’s Red Star Sponsor, Rotary Club of La Mesa, for funding his adoption, training, and care.
