Hi! I’m Cody, a 1-year-old lab mix adopted from Labs & More under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of Pam Burkholz!
Cody’s journey is just beginning. Before arriving at Riverside Animal Shelter, he and his brother had been living in a single kennel with five other dogs, waiting for the chance at a better life.
That chance came when our team recognized his exceptional potential during his evaluation. Thanks to the generous Pam Burkholz and Labs & More and welcomed into our Psychiatric Service Dog Training Program.
Now, Cody is beginning the next chapter of his journey. Over the coming months, he will build the advanced skills, confidence, and reliability needed to serve as a psychiatric service dog while progressing through each stage of our training program. Throughout his journey, our trainers will continue monitoring his development to ensure he is reaching every milestone. Once he passes the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, Cody will begin speed dating with veterans living with the invisible wounds of military service, creating a life-changing partnership built on trust, resilience, and hope.
