Hi, I’m Charlie! I’m a 1.5-year-old Labrador Retriever the Shelter to Soldier team adopted from Labs & More under the generous Red Star sponsorship of Vulcan Materials Co.
I came into this program with a naturally social, easygoing personality and a whole lot of enthusiasm for life. Other dogs? I love them! Walks? Always! New places, new smells, new people? I’m already heading that direction!
I’m also a big fan of affection and will happily give you a hug for attention whenever I get the chance. I’m not exactly subtle about it, either.
You might notice I look a lot like my friend Dawson around here (we hear that a lot). The difference is Dawson is training to be a Morale Dog, while I’m on the service dog track. Same charm, different purpose.
I’m still polishing my manners and learning my basics. I try my best, but I’m also young and the world still feels very exciting, so consistency is a work in progress. What I do have going for me is my temperament: I’m friendly, eager to engage, and I show up ready to train every day. I’m attentive, people-oriented, and I bounce back quickly when I’m redirected. Pretty soon, I’ll be the kind of dog a veteran can truly rely on! I take that role seriously, even as I’m still growing into it.
