Jäger

Meet Jäger! Jäger was rescued from a kill shelter who had been born blind. He had a bilateral congenital defect in his front wrists. He LOVES snacks, plays with rocks, & opens doors even though he’s blind. Jäger is a sweet love bug and we’re happy to have him on our team!

Tito

Meet Tito! One of our newest and cuddliest Canine Ambassadors! Tito loves attending the Paw Squad events and Petco park as he loves to be seen. He provides great comfort to those around him and doesn’t mind any affection from those looking to give it! Tito also loves children!

Nala

March 13, 2023

Meet this sweet golden, Nala! Nala joined our Canine Ambassador program in September of 2022 and has shared the comfort of having a therapy dog at our special events including Paw Squad games at Petco Park!

Moose

Moose is the first member of our new therapy team (STS Canine Ambassadors). Moose was sponsored by Petco Foundation to become a psychiatric service dog for a veteran in need. Moose graduated the program last year with his veteran handler and helped him thrive and heal for several months. Due to a change in his handler’s life and his need to become the primary caregiver for his special needs child, it became difficult to care for a service dog, despite the amazing support he felt Moose brought to his life. He brought Moose back to our program so that Moose could help more veterans in need. He is now a canine ambassador for our program as a therapy dog! Moose will serve the HSC-4 Black Knights Squadron as well as assist with Military Sexual Trauma counseling with his handler, Petty Officer First Class Thomas Moore, US Navy, who is a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) victim advocate for service members throughout San Diego.

Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors (therapy team) will provide visits of love and affection throughout the Southern California region. Each therapy team (dog and handler) will serve different purposes including providing visits with active duty military personnel, veterans working through trauma, military families while their loved ones are deployed or when a loved one has passed while in service, and to our community partners.
