Hi! I’m Junebug! I’m a 1-year-old lab mix adopted from Calexico Border Paws—the same rescue the team adopted Forrest from under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of.
My story started a little rough—I came in as a stray with something called demodex, a skin condition caused by tiny mites that live in hair follicles. When a dog’s immune system is stressed or still developing, those mites can overpopulate and cause hair loss, irritation, and just overall uncomfy skin.
But then I got really lucky. I was placed with a foster mom who just so happened to be the same foster who raised Forrest — yes, that Forrest, the service dog who recently graduated from our program. She knew exactly how to love a dog who needed some extra TLC, and she made sure I got the treatment I needed to kick that demodex to the curb and start feeling like myself again. My coat is already growing back!
I don’t want to brag, but it was kind of love at first sight for the STS Training Team. Apparently I have a way of making people fall for my puppy dog eyes and my little puppy wrinkles. I can’t help it. It’s just my face!
I’ve since been welcomed into the Emotional Support Animal program, and I am thriving. My fur is coming back beautifully, and I’ve been working with my trainer Hailey, who I absolutely adore. I may be a little silly, but I’m a mellow girl at heart. The kind who’s happy to just be by your side and remind you that you’re not alone.

Sage is a bright, energetic gal with a big heart and an even bigger love for life. Sage came up through our service dog training pathway, where she quickly showed off her natural intelligence, impeccable manners, and eagerness to learn. While a recent arthritis diagnosis means a career in service work isn’t in the cards, it hasn’t dimmed her spirit one bit. She’s simply found a new calling: bringing comfort and joy as an emotional support animal.
She will thrive in a home that channels her lab enthusiasm with gentle, low-impact activity and plenty of mental stimulation. She loves to work and learn, so short training sessions and calm enrichment will keep her happy without overexerting her joints. She’s a true Labrador at heart! Loyal, loving, and ready to be your very best friend.

While I’m an absolute blast to be around, I’d do best as the only dog in the home. I like to keep all the attention to myself and I promise, I’m more than enough to fill your heart! Hi! I’m Shelton! I’m a 5-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever the Shelter to Soldier team adopted from Labs & More under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of the Cox Foundation.
I may have aged out of the service dog program (the cutoff is three years old), but don’t let that fool you—I’ve already completed my training and know all of my task cues.
While I won’t be placed as a formal service dog, I’m still more than ready to be a steady, reliable companion. My training helps me stay calm, attentive, and adaptable in day-to-day life, and I truly thrive when I’m able to support my person emotionally and be by their side.
I’m looking for someone who wants a deeply connected, well-trained partner—someone who values consistency, companionship, and a dog who already understands how to show up when it matters.

Hi! I’m Sunshine a 5 year old Pitbull Mix the Shelter to Soldier team adopted from the Carlsbad Animal Shelter under the generous Red Star Sponsorship of Boeing.
I’m an active, playful boy who loves to run, explore, and have fun. I’m also super sharp and quick to learn, which made me an excellent candidate for training as an Emotional Support Animal (ESA). I’ve been specially trained to support a member of the military or a veteran who needs a loyal, loving companion.
I’m a big guy with a huge heart and a lot of love to give. I’m great with other dogs and I absolutely adore snuggling up for some cozy cuddles. I can’t wait to meet my forever person, and I’m ready to bring comfort, joy, and companionship to their life!
